On June 1, the application period for the updated semiconductor program’s government incentives reopened. A production-linked incentive (PLI) programme for semiconductor and display manufacturing facilities was recently introduced in the nation.
In the near future, the government hopes to establish 100 semiconductor design companies that will produce cutting-edge products not just for the home market but also for the rest of the globe.
Soon, the nation will have a talent pool of 85,000 highly skilled workers in the semiconductor industry. In 2019, the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) and Counterpoint Research jointly estimated the country’s semiconductor market to be worth $22.7 billion.
