India currently ranks as the world’s fifth-largest manufacturer of technical textiles, with a market worth close to USD 22 billion. To meet these goals, focusing on increasing productivity at the production and supply-chain levels is necessary. Technical fabrics are valuable materials used in various fields, such as automotive, civil engineering, healthcare, agriculture, personal protection, and construction.
In order to innovate and create appealing items that will one day become worldwide brands, we will need to use economies of scale and focus on research and development. Strong inter-ministerial collaboration is taking place for this goal, which would open the door for the growth of the technical textiles market in India.
India will be able to significantly contribute to an increased market potential for geotextiles and technical textiles on the back of robust growth in infrastructure being created in the country. He noted that the demand for geotextiles on a global scale is also increasing rapidly.
In the next 4-5 years, India wants to grow its technical textiles market to at least USD 40 billion. The minister reaffirmed the government’s sincere commitment to collaborating with all interested parties to increase demand, improve research, develop new uses for technological textiles, and support entrepreneurs in order to bring about innovation.
