Under the PM Gati Shakti programme, the Network Planning Group (NPG) has authorised four railway-related infrastructure projects. The PM Gati Shakti – National Master Plan was introduced in October 2021 with the goal of creating an integrated and planned infrastructure to lower logistical costs.
All infrastructure projects for connectivity and logistics, totaling more than Rs 500 crore, are channelled through NPG. According to the commerce and industry ministry, "NPG under PM Gati Shakti at its 46th session assessed and approved four infrastructure projects." These projects would be constructed in accordance with PM Gati Shakti principles utilising an integrated and holistic approach.
Additionally, these initiatives will offer seamless movement of people and products across multiple modes of transportation. The four projects are the construction of a broad-gauge double line between Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur in Rajasthan, a broad-gauge line between Junagarh and Nabarangpur station in Odisha, a broad-gauge line between Anand Nagar Ghughuli via Maharajganj on the Northeastern Railway in Uttar Pradesh, and the installation of automatic block signalling on Western Railway's freight-dense, high-utilization network.
